A Checklist to Help You Prioritize Gift Needs
Reference our checklist as a resourceful guide for setting up your child's room. As you add items to your registry online, our interactive checklist will automatically reflect which items you've selected and the additional products we suggest.
Gift Cards
Many of your friends and family members may want to contribute to the purchase of a larger gift. To enable this, we suggest adding a note to your registry in the comments section indicating that gift cards are a welcomed gift. The cards can then be used to purchase some of the more expensive items on your list. And, as an added benefit, Pottery Barn Kids gift cards may also be redeemed at any of the following brands: Threads, Pottery Barn, PBteen, Williams-Sonoma, Williams-Sonoma Home and West Elm.
Monogramming
Pottery Barn Kids has an unmatched selection of beautiful children's items that can be personalized. Blankets, bedding, towels, Boppy® pillows, storage baskets, totes, diaper bags, baby clothing and keepsakes such as silver frames are just a few of the items available for monogramming. Monogramming is available exclusively through potterybarnkids.com and our Pottery Barn Kids catalog.

The newsletter also highlights the latest additions to the Pottery Barn Kids product assortment so you are aware of new products that might help you put the finishing touches on your nursery design.
Control of Online Access
You choose how much online access others have to your registry. "Unlimited Online Access" allows anyone to view your registry and shop for you online. "Password-Only Access" requires shoppers to have a password supplied by you. Or, "No Online Access" enables only you and your co-registrant to access your online registry. No matter which option you choose, your personal information remains confidential, and your registry will be accessible in our stores nationwide.
Registry Etiquette
How acceptable is it for me to create a baby registry?
You will be amazed at how many gifts you receive from people who want to share this exciting time with you and your family. You will receive gifts upon sharing the exciting news, at your baby shower, from work colleagues as you depart for maternity leave, at the hospital after delivery and when your baby arrives home for the first time. Registering gift preferences enables your friends and family to select a gift they can be sure you will love.
What items should I include on my baby registry?
Of course, what you include on your registry is a personal choice. However, it's typical to register for a variety of bedding, clothing, bath items, decor, gear, furniture and toys that will span the first two years of your baby's life. Be sensitive to different budgets and the fact that some people may want to contribute to a group gift and include items that cover a range of prices. Also, remember that babies grow quickly.
So in addition to registering for newborn items, we recommend that you add items to your registry that are appropriate for your baby's first two years. Our trained store and customer care center associates are available to assist you with this process.
When should I register?
We recommend creating your Pottery Barn Kids registry two to three months before your due date or other event date. This allows family and friends enough time to purchase gifts before the event.
Is there any advantage to registering in a pottery barn kids store versus online?
You receive the same Pottery Barn Kids Registry benefits whether you set up your registry at a Pottery Barn Kids store or at potterybarnkids.com. Note that while many of our products are carried in both our stores and on our website, there are some products that are unique to each.
Is creating a registry for a second or third child an acceptable practice?
Many product designs evolve over time. For safety or practicality reasons, consider registering for or purchasing such items for your new baby. Also, since your new little one's skin will be incredibly sensitive, there are a number of items - such as blankets, sheets and towels - that you might consider buying or registering for again to ensure that they are as soft and fresh as possible. Finally, consider monogramming some items with your second baby's name so that each of your children has special keepsakes of their own.
How long after a birth is it likely we will receive baby gifts?
You'll find that most gifts are typically given within the first three months of a baby's birth. However, some gifts may continue to trickle in throughout the first year.
Why are gifts sometimes given to an older sibling when a new baby is born?
Accustomed to being the center of attention, older siblings often feel left out when a new baby arrives. Giving the older sibling a small gift helps them feel special in their new role as big brother or sister. When you register for your new baby, consider adding a few toys for your older child that will help keep him or her entertained while you attend to your newborn.
How acceptable is it for me to create a registry for my child's birthday or other special event?
Everyone who gives a gift hopes that the gift will be appreciated and cherished. But buying gifts for children can be tricky - especially for friends and family who do not have children themselves. With toys, for example, it can be difficult to know what the child already has, which toys the child is developmentally ready for or which type of toys the child really enjoys. Registering gift preferences enables people to select a gift they can be sure your child will love.
