Each area of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital (YNHCH) places as much emphasis on a child's emotional needs as it does on caring for a child's illness. A toy train in the lobby and expressive children's art say this is a hospital where children of all ages can feel welcome and safe.
Historically, Yale-New Haven Hospital has cared for more children than any other hospital in Connecticut. YNHCH opened in 1993 as Connecticut's first comprehensive children's hospital. Inpatient, outpatient, emergency, primary and preventive care is provided to thousands of children and the hospital serves as one of New England's major referral centers for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric problems.
